This bone china mug depicts a Scottish Piper in the style of 9th century ancient Celtic manuscripts, which would have been painted by monks onto vellum or calf skin.

It is speculated the the Romans introduced the bagpipes to Scotland in AD 84. The stirring sound of the Scottish bagpipes is synonymous with strength, courage and heroism for which the Scottish are renowned throughout the world. Now the national instrument of Scotland, the Highland Piper traditionally occupied an honoured position within the Scottish Clan system

Decorated with a cream background to mimic the traditional vellum and featuring a colourful border of red, yellow, green, and blue entwining celtic knots, this mug makes a wonderful addition to any kitchen, giving it a pop of Scottish flare
