This bone china mug depicts the Claddagh Ring in the style of 9th century ancient Celtic manuscripts which would have been painted by monks onto vellum or calf skin.

The Claddagh is a traditional Irish wedding band dating back to the 17th century. After he was freed from the slavery from which he was sold into and returned to Ireland, it is believed that the goldsmith Richard Joyce created the ring in the tiny fishing town of Claddagh in County Galway for his beloved, who had waited for him all the years he was gone.

A heart for love, a crown for loyalty, and hands for friendship, this ring has gained international recognition as a symbol of love undying. Depicted in the traditional gold on this mug, it makes a lovely addition to any Irish kitchen and will always be a steadfast reminder of everlasting love, loyalty, and friendship.
